Commercial Carpet Tile Install | New Brunswick, NJ

The Client: The Catholic Center at Rutgers

Floors Direct was hired to install new carpet tile flooring to replace the existing carpet in the Catholic Center at Rutgers. The Catholic Center at Rutgers University is a student-run organization that strives to build an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students on campus. The Center offers a variety of events and activities for students of all backgrounds, ranging from weekly Masses to service opportunities to spiritual retreats. It is a great place for students to come together in an open and inclusive atmosphere. The Center also serves as a place for students to come together and form meaningful relationships. It hosts a variety of social events throughout the year, such as game nights, movie nights, and potlucks, that provide an opportunity for students to build relationships with one another. The center’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment makes it an invaluable part of the Rutgers experience.

The Project: Carpet Tile Installation

Floors Direct was tasked with the rip-up and replacement of the carpet in the Catholic Centers’ common areas and meeting rooms. The project encompassed approximately 2000 square feet of floor space in total.

Our team went to work moving furniture and ripping up the existing carpet. Some of the plywood subflooring underneath was found to be in need of repair. The Floors Direct crew fixed all of the damaged plywood and completed the floor prep.

Next they spread the adhesive and allowed it to set. There are various adhesive options depending on the type of installation required. Typically, we use a full spread adhesive application of a premium pressure sensitive adhesive like Shaw 4151. The full spread method has the best bond strength but it makes removing and replacing the tiles slightly more difficult. You can choose from LokWorx+ Carpet Tile Adhesive, Shaw 5100, Shaw 4151, LokDots, LokWorx Adhesive Tabs, Shaw 3800, or LokWorx Carpet Tile Adhesive.
