Installation of Engineered Hardwood Flooring and Hardwood Floor Refinishing
This flooring installation project in Mendham, New Jersey included installation of 1600 square feet of an Anderson Tuftex engineered hardwood flooring. We also did some sanding and refinishing of the staircase and back mud room to match the new wood flooring.
Materials – Anderson Tuftex Style: Buckingham Color: Edinburgh – 17025
This recent project in Mendham included the installation of 1600 sf. of Anderson Tuftex style Buckingham in the Edinburgh color. This 5/8″ thick engineered white oak features a distressed look and extra wide 8″ planks. This floor is made in the U.S.A. and comes straight from the factory with 5 coats of polyurethane, a layer of aluminum-oxide, stain, and their proprietary Luster-Lock® Ultra finish. Micro-sized crystals of ceramic and aluminum oxide are suspended in the finish making it 6 times more resistant to scuffs and abrasions versus other hardwood brands. As with many of the Anderson Tuftex floors, this hardwood flooring is suitable for use above, on, or below grade. Want to install over radiant heat, no problem. With the option to choose any of four installation methods, we can nail, staple, glue, or float this flooring over most subfloors.
Engineered Hardwood Installation
This was not necessarily your run of the mill hardwood installation (no pun intended). Our crew first needed to remove approximately 900 sf. of carpet from the family room. They also removed approximately 600 sf. of ceramic tile from the foyer and eat in kitchen. It turned out that much of the existing subfloor had some water damage. We installed approximately 1400 sf. of 1/2″ plywood to shore up the water damaged subflooring. After that, we did a staple down installation of the 1600 sf. of Anderson Tuftex Buckingham Edinburgh.
Refinishing Wood Stairs
Part of this project was the sanding and refinishing of the main staircase. Our installation team first removed all of the spindles to allow for painting and complete sanding of the treads. The treads were hand scraped and sanded down and prepped for staining. During the sanding process, we contained the dust to keep the rest of the house clean. The stain color was custom blended to match the Buckingham Edinburgh color. When the wood refinishing process was completed the spindles were re-installed and we painted the risers white.
